Abstract

This draft document presents the registration and contextualization of the establishment of a collaborative space between a large metal-mechanical industry and a federal public university, in line with our academic coordination as federal public servants. The proposed space aims to provide an environment conducive to technological innovation and the development of immediate practical solutions to challenges faced by the metal-mechanical industry. Additionally, it seeks to train and develop qualified human resources in engineering, particularly focused on the metal-mechanical sector, through postgraduate programs and collaboration with junior companies. This collaborative space represents an additional milestone in the integration between academia and the productive or industrial sector, allowing the exchange of knowledge and experiences among researchers, students, and industry professionals. By promoting this interaction, it is intended to stimulate the generation of applied technological innovations and the formation of highly skilled professionals aligned with market demands.

LEFTER100 is a multidisciplinary research laboratory at UNIFEI, specializing in experimental, computational, and numerical studies in fluid and thermal engineering. It collaborates with the Laboratory of Transport Phenomena, featuring advanced equipment for experiments in Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, and Fluid Mechanics. Established in 2024 by Prof. Dr. Paulo Mohallem Guimarães and Prof. Dr. Rogério Fernandes Brito, with contributions from researcher Ricardo Luiz Perez Teixeira, LEFTER100 is equipped with three workstations, six personal computers, and software licenses for Comsol Multiphysics and Advanced Academic Ansys. It is committed to fostering inclusivity, professionalism, and cutting-edge research, supported by the pillars of Research, Teaching, and Community Outreach.
